Giza pyramids tickets: what the area ticket covers, and which interiors to add
The short answer
The area ticket costs EGP 700 for foreign adults, per Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, with students paying half. It covers the plateau, the Sphinx and the outside of the three pyramids. Going inside the Great Pyramid, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the tomb of Meresankh III or the Workers' Cemetery needs its own ticket. In our judgement, go at opening and give the Great Pyramid's passages the first hour.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu
- What the official sources say
- The largest pyramid in Egypt and the last of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world still standing. See our page on it.
- Who it may suit (our judgement)
- The one to choose: the climb up the Grand Gallery to the granite King's Chamber is one of the most memorable hours in Egypt.
- Check at the exact beach
- The ticket price on the day, and that you are comfortable in narrow, steep, warm passages.
The pyramid of Khafre
- What the official sources say
- Built beside his father's on bedrock about 10 m higher, so it looks the tallest at Giza. See our page on it.
- Who it may suit (our judgement)
- A good second choice if the Great Pyramid's tickets are gone.
- Check at the exact beach
- That it is open on your date.
The pyramid of Menkaure
- What the official sources say
- The smallest of the three, left unfinished when the king died. See our page on it.
- Who it may suit (our judgement)
- For travellers who want to see how the builders worked.
- Check at the exact beach
- That it is open on your date.
- Go at opening: the Ministry listing read on 19 September 2026 gives the plateau's hours as 08:00–16:00. In our judgement the first hours are the coolest and the quietest.
- Inside first, then the plateau: go into the Great Pyramid early, then the viewpoint and the Sphinx.
- Give the museum its own time: the Grand Egyptian Museum is about 2 km away and deserves at least half a day; its tickets are sold separately on its own site.
- Read the place first: our Giza plateau page explains who built the pyramids, and how they lived.
