Egypt site tickets and opening hours: thirteen great sites in one dated table
The short answer
Entry to Egypt's great sites costs between EGP 230 and EGP 750 for a foreign adult, per the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (read 30 September 2026), and students pay half. The Giza pyramids area is EGP 700, the Valley of the Kings and Abu Simbel EGP 750 each. Upper Egypt's temples open as early as 06:00, so the coolest hours are yours.

- Start at opening in Upper Egypt: Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and Abu Simbel open at 06:00. In our judgement the first hours are the coolest and the quietest.
- Save Luxor Temple for the evening: it stays open until 20:00, and in our judgement the light is at its best late in the day.
