This Great Pyramid entry tour starts where most Giza visits stop: inside. The ticket into the Great Pyramid of Khufu is included, and your Egyptologist takes you in first, before the plateau fills. You climb the narrow passages to the chambers at the heart of the last surviving wonder of the ancient world.

Back outside, the tour continues to the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the panoramic viewpoint over the desert, then down to the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple. Transport is a private air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Cairo or Giza and back.

Be honest with yourself before you book. The passages are narrow, steep and warm, and the chamber at the end is bare granite: the experience is the climb and the stone, not decoration. It is not suited to anyone with claustrophobia, heart or breathing problems, or difficulty on steep ramps. For those who want it, it is one of the most memorable hours in Egypt, and on this tour it is planned in rather than negotiated on the day.

Worth it if the climb itself is the point. The chamber is empty; skip it if you dislike tight, warm spaces.

What is inside the Great Pyramid?

Narrow ascending passages, the Grand Gallery and a bare granite burial chamber. There are no paintings or inscriptions; the experience is the climb and the scale of the stone.

Who should not go inside?

Anyone with claustrophobia, heart or breathing conditions, or difficulty with steep, low passages. Tickets are limited each day and subject to availability.
