A long connection at Cairo International Airport is enough to see the two things most travellers come to Egypt for. This private tour collects you at arrivals, drives you to the pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum next to them, and brings you back to the airport for your onward flight.
At Giza your Egyptologist guide takes you round the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx: three generations of Fourth Dynasty kings, and a plateau already famous with tourists in Roman times. Then the Grand Egyptian Museum, which calls itself the world's largest museum devoted to a single civilisation. Tutankhamun's burial goods have their own galleries there, and Khufu's boats a museum of their own, so a short visit can show you objects from the very pyramid you have just stood beneath.
Airport transfers in a private vehicle, the guide and both entrance tickets are included. You need to pass through immigration to leave the airport, so you need an Egyptian visa and a connection long enough for a tour of six to eight hours plus the airport either side. Leave generous time for immigration on the way out and security on the way back. If the connection is tight, see just the pyramids.

Before you ask
Do I need a visa to leave the airport?
Yes. The tour starts after immigration, so you enter Egypt and need a visa. For British travellers the UK government's advice lists an e-visa bought online in advance, a visa on arrival for 30 US dollars in cash, and, since 1 August 2026, digital visas at self-service machines in Cairo airport for 36 US dollars by card (read 29 September 2026). Check the rules for your own passport.
How long must my layover be?
Long enough for a tour of six to eight hours plus immigration on arrival and check-in and security before your next flight. Send your arrival and departure times with your request, and we will say honestly whether it fits.
What happens to my luggage?
Checked bags that are booked through to your final destination stay with the airline. Ask your airline before you travel whether yours are.
Can we go inside the Great Pyramid?
Yes, with an extra ticket, if your layover allows the time. Ask for it in your request.
Is lunch included?
No. Your guide can stop for food, which you pay for on the day.
