Before you choose

Is this the right tour for you?

Your ship docks in Alexandria, and the pyramids are a morning's drive away. This private shore excursion meets you at the port with an Egyptologist guide and driver and gives the day to Cairo's greatest sights.

The drive to Giza takes about two and a half to three hours. There you walk round the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx, and take a short camel ride on the plateau. Lunch is at a restaurant with a view of the pyramids; it is reserved for you, and you pay for it there. In the afternoon you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, where Tutankhamun's burial goods fill their own galleries, and at the end of the day a private felucca, the Nile's traditional sailing boat, takes you out on the river before the drive back to the port.

Entrance fees, the camel ride, the felucca, the guide and private transport are included. It is a long day: the standard plan returns to the port late in the evening. Tell us your ship's all-aboard time when you ask, and the day is planned around it.

Choose this if the pyramids are the reason you booked the cruise. If your ship's time in port is short, ask for a shorter day, or see Alexandria itself instead.

Will we be back before the ship sails?

Tell us your ship's arrival and all-aboard times in your request. The day is planned around them, and if they are tight the quote shortens the day rather than risk the sailing.

How long is the drive?
