Is this the right tour for you?

This day trip is for anyone staying in Hurghada who wants to see the pyramids without giving up a night of their holiday. You fly to Cairo in the morning and back in the evening, so the day goes to the sights rather than to a long drive each way.

Your guide meets you in Cairo and takes you first to Giza, where three generations of Fourth Dynasty kings built their pyramids, and to the Great Sphinx beneath them. Next comes the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, opened in 1902, which holds more pharaonic antiquities than any other collection and tells Egypt's story from its beginning to the Roman period. After lunch at a local restaurant you drive up to the Citadel, the medieval fortress Salah al-Din began in 1176, where the Mosque of Muhammad Ali gives Cairo its skyline. The day ends in the lanes of Khan el-Khalili, the old bazaar, before the flight back to Hurghada.

The return flights, transfers, guide, entrance fees and lunch are included. Tutankhamun's treasures are now at the Grand Egyptian Museum, not the Egyptian Museum; ask if you would rather spend the museum hour there.

Our advice

Flying saves the long drive each way, but it is still a long day. If you can spare a night, stay in Cairo and see the Grand Egyptian Museum too.

Before you ask

Why fly rather than drive?

Cairo is a long drive from Hurghada, so a return trip by road leaves little time at the sights. Flying gives you most of the day in Cairo. A road day is possible if you prefer; ask in your request.

Will we see Tutankhamun's treasures?

Not at the Egyptian Museum: Tutankhamun's burial goods now have their own galleries at the Grand Egyptian Museum. Ask to swap the museum stop if they matter most to you.

How early is the start?

Early: the pickup time follows the morning flight, and the return follows the evening one. Your quote gives the times for your date.

Is the price for children different?

Children usually pay less, but the domestic fare sets part of the price. Tell us the children's ages and the quote shows it.

Do I need a visa?

If you are already in Hurghada on an Egyptian visa, it covers this trip. The free Sinai entry stamp applies only to Sharm el-Sheikh arrivals, not to Hurghada.
