Fayoum
Days 6–7 · 2 nightsWhat to know about Fayoum

- Wadi El Rayan's lakes and waterfalls, and the whale fossils of Wadi El Hitan.
- Wadi el-Hitan
A desert valley of fossil whales with legs, from a sea that covered Egypt forty million years ago.

The Red Sea
Days 8–11 · 3 nightsWhat to know about The Red Sea
- How long
- 3–5 nights recommended. Base yourself in Hurghada or Sharm for the reefs. Cairo is a short flight away, and Luxor makes a fine overnight from Hurghada.
- What deserves priority
- Snorkelling, diving and genuine rest.
