For one traveller, rest means a quiet room and a beach close enough to reach without organising transport. For another, it means a walkable place to eat and wander. A companion may want to dive or learn a wind sport while someone else wants to do very little. The right coastal stay is a question of fit, not a ranking of beaches.

Those place descriptions come from the tourism authority's Dahab beach guide, Soma Bay and Marsa Alam pages. They are descriptions of destinations, not guarantees that a particular room is quiet or a particular reef is safe to enter.
