This private day in historic Cairo covers the city the pyramids leave out. It begins at the Citadel that Salah al-Din built on the Muqattam hills between 1176 and 1183, and at the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, finished in the nineteenth century, whose domes still define the skyline.

From there the day moves to Coptic Cairo: the Hanging Church, built over a gate of the Roman fortress of Babylon, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue nearby. It ends in Khan el-Khalili, the bazaar at the heart of medieval Cairo, with time to walk its lanes.

An Egyptologist guides the whole day, with private transport and hotel collection in Cairo or Giza. Entrance tickets, lunch and any shopping are confirmed in your quote. Mosques and churches ask for shoulders and knees covered, and women may be asked to cover their hair in the mosque.
