What to know about Western Desert

How long: 1–2 nights recommended. Stay the night: the chalk towers glow at sunset and sunrise, and we arrange the camp and permits for you.
What deserves priority: White Desert landscapes and a night under the stars.

What to know about Fayoum

How long: A day from Cairo, or a night. About two hours from Cairo each way. A day covers Wadi El Rayan or the Valley of the Whales; a night by Lake Qarun lets you see both without rushing.
What deserves priority: Wadi El Rayan's lakes and waterfalls, and the whale fossils of Wadi El Hitan.

Days 4–6 · 2 nights

What to know about Alexandria

How long: A long day from Cairo, or a night. Catacombs, a Roman theatre and the Mediterranean seafront. A day trip from Cairo is about six hours on the road in total; a night gives you an evening on the Corniche.
What deserves priority: The catacombs, the Roman theatre and Qaitbay Fort.

Alexandria's modern library, built as a successor to the most famous library of the ancient world.

A tomb built for the rich that grew into a city of the dead.
